LEARN

What an SSL certificate check can verify

SSL Checker connects to the public host on the standard HTTPS port and inspects the certificate presented during the TLS connection. The result can help identify the certificate subject, issuer, validity period, alternative names and expiration date.

A valid certificate is only one part of HTTPS security. This tool is not a complete TLS configuration audit and does not assess every cipher, protocol setting, web application control or certificate path scenario.

FAQ

Common questions

What are SAN entries?

Subject Alternative Name entries list hostnames or other identifiers covered by a certificate.

Does HTTPS mean a website is trustworthy?

No. HTTPS protects the connection and authenticates the certificate identity; it does not guarantee that the content or operator is trustworthy.

Why can my browser and a checker see different certificates?

Different IP routes, CDNs, proxies, SNI configuration or cached network paths can cause requests to reach different endpoints.
