What the IPv4 and IPv6 test tells you

The test contacts separate endpoints so IPv4 and IPv6 can be checked independently. A successful IPv6 result shows that your browser can reach the OCS Ping IPv6-only endpoint, while the IPv4 result checks the equivalent IPv4-only path.

If both succeed, your connection is operating in a dual-stack environment for these endpoints. If only one succeeds, the other protocol may be unavailable, filtered or not configured on the current network.

Common questions

Does an IPv6 result mean all websites support IPv6?

No. It only confirms connectivity to the IPv6-only OCS Ping probe. Each destination can have different DNS and network support.

Why can IPv6 work on mobile data but not Wi-Fi?

The mobile carrier and Wi-Fi network may use different routing, DNS and IPv6 configurations.

Is IPv6 automatically faster than IPv4?

Not necessarily. Performance depends on routing, peering, congestion and the destination, not only the IP version.
