What an ASN tells you about an IP address

An Autonomous System Number identifies a network that participates in internet routing and originates or propagates IP prefixes through BGP. The ASN result helps show which network currently announces the prefix containing the public IP address you entered.

The network name, registry and country fields are routing or registration information. They should not be treated as proof of the physical location of a person, device or server.

Yes. Large providers and organizations can operate multiple autonomous systems for different networks or regions.

No. Registry information describes network registration and must not be treated as precise user geolocation.
